History
College
Proteins is a business established at College Road Nobber, Co.
Meath in 1989. Since that date College Proteins has become one
of Ireland's leading rendering companies. The activities of College
Proteins are oriented towards servicing the local, regional and
national markets. To achieve this position the company has increased
its workforce from 15 to over 90 full time employees.
College Proteins collects and processes animal by-products
from abattoirs, meat plants, butchers, and poultry plants. In
Ireland an average 25% of the weight of slaughtered animals are
animal by-products. This represents approximately 400,000 thousand
tonnes of natural animal tissue to be processed in the rendering
plants in Ireland. This material must be handled and treated in
a manner, which safeguards the environment and public health.
The
College Proteins facility is situated in a rural area 2 km from
the village of Nobber Co. Meath. The site itself is approximately
ten acres and has a covered area of 3,300 m². An engineering
workshop, raw material building, production building, and storage
silos dominate the plant. Other buildings include offices, maintenance
workshops, a fully equipped environmental laboratory, as well
as an effluent treatment plant. The site is fenced along its entire
perimeter. It is bounded by fields.
The site is a modern production facility, which has incorporated
the best technology available into each operation on the site.
The site is designed so that it is easy to keep clean and tidy.
All staff encourages good housekeeping and working practices.
